This project investigates how effective different techniques are at simulating the various components of a car for use in racing games. With a focus on tyres, the project explores the Pacejka 'Magic formula', a Volumetric deformable tyre model and Brush tyre model to evaluate their realism as well as their configurability in different racing games from simulation to arcade type racing games. The project involved implementing these techniques along with other components by developing a racing game demo to evaluate against other racing games and real-life data.
I've always loved racing games and cars, so I was very interested in learning the techniques involved in developing these games and how the various components on a car are simulated to give realistic results.
