The procedural methods used in this project are inverse kinematics and complex animation graphs, which adapt to different characters, including how they interact with the environment. A parts-based character creator is utilised to create 2D creatures that use physics to simulate movement. The characters should be able to adjust movement and animations to adapt to their current situation - to the best of their ability - depending on what components they have available. The character creator uses of a variety of tools that allow for part manipulation to facilitate the creation of unique and interesting characters. This project was made with Godot Engine 4.
'2D Procedurally Animated User-Made Creatures' is a 2023 Digital Graduate Show project by Cypriana Przybyla, a Computer Game Applications Development student at Abertay University.
Inspired by the game Spore by Maxis and an interest in animation programming.
