Coreterra is a world revolving around the abundance of minerals and precious stones the lands offer, the magic they have, and the dangers presented by the horrors of the world's wound. This project revolves around this MMORPG concept, focusing on the practices and stages of development that go into videogame concept art, visualising these steps, as well as how they lead to cumulating into the presentation of an IP's published artbook.
My main motivation for the project really came from thinking what I would do after this year of university. There's normally another module with a similar portfolio format, but not once you graduate. During lockdown, I got back into World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy 14, so MMOs have become my favourite genre to play in my downtime , and I especially love WoW. It had a big influence on the project direction. As for the project itself, I wanted all that I had learned and my work I had created through Abertay be presented in the form of an art book, to summarise where I've gotten to, and make it easily presentable to others as a portfolio of work. I'd like to work on MMORPGs as a concept artist at some point, so I think this ongoing project would be a good addition to my portfolio.
