Remote working is an ever expanding and ever developing practice, one that will likely be seen to replace traditional forms of work. Though the practice offers many benefits in the world of work, issues such as the precariousness of the work, governmental policy issues, and industry-related employment issues effect the safe growth of remote industry practice.
This project looks at these benefits and issues with a lens on how remote working affects the Video Game Industry, one of the most valuable industries in the UK and in particular, Dundee. It investigates practice, policy, and provides guidelines for those in search of digestible and industry specific information in remote working practices.
Through my research on the topic, I found the emergent growth of remote practices in the video game industry, and found it difficult to find detailed information due to non-disclosure agreements and lack of documentation, which inspired me to develop this project.
“From Paris to Berlin : Remote Working in the Video Game Industry” is a 2020 Digital Graduate Show project by Niamh Loughran, a Game Design and Production student at Abertay University.
