Proof-of-concept: Set in a funhouse, the environment of this point-and-click adventure game is intended to be evocative of early 3D ~2000s games. It aims to be a playful and peaceful atmosphere for adults and children alike, both of whom may be restricted to digitised fun in virtual settings.
The scope of the project encapsulates an entrance hall and a mini theatre. As part of a mechanism, a gear would be found nestled amongst balloon flowers. When fitted, a human hamster wheel could be run in to revolve a canvas and paint a pantomime backdrop. Other objects as part of puzzles beyond this scope include a toy lawnmower, drawer, hobby horse and water gun beside clutter such as Fresnel lanterns, chairs and mirrors.
“The Pursuit of Evoking Nostalgia without Established IP” is a 2021 Digital Graduate Show project by Nicole Bernard, a Computer Arts student at Abertay University.
