Synopsis
Lost, alone and without any memory of her past, the Goddess Dzitor awakens in the hills of North Scotland. As she finds her bearings in this new land, she journeys towards Glasgow where she meets Ayodele, a God willing to help her. As she explores the city, she regains parts of her memory along with Glasgow’s dark history in colonialism and slave trade. The story of Dzitor deals with racism in modern society and how history plays a part in this, presented in an animated webcomic format.
Dzitor the Wandering Goddess: The impact of History on Race Today
An animated comic following a lost West African Goddess suffering from memory loss who is navigating her way through Glasgow and its history in order to find her way home.
Motivation
This project has been one that is very close to me, part of my experiences as a black person living in Scotland has been reflected in it, I wanted to create a story that any young black person could see themselves in, and to inspire more people of minority to tell their own stories.
