Our Global MBA prepares professionals for leadership in an international context. This programme will equip you with knowledge and skills across the full breadth of the management discipline, including people management, strategic development and financial decision-making and control.
Your skills will be honed through the lens of international business and leading business transformation, empowering you and your organisation to respond strategically to the changing environment.
Your development will be highlighted through the capstone module, which is a choice of consultancy style project presented by one of our business partners or based on a challenge within your own workplace, or a more theoretical research-based topic.
As a graduate of this programme, you will have the knowledge and skills to:
Demonstrate critical understanding and integration of management and leadership knowledge within a local and international context.
Select and apply appropriate tools and techniques to different problem situations in meeting strategic organisational aims.
Recognise the responsibilities of the Professional Manager operating within a changing technological and global marketplace.
Critically appraise complex business and financial risks and manage strategic challenges, in regional and global contexts, and provide recommendations for innovation and business transformation.
Synthesise multifaceted information and communicate in a concise, professional manner to inform decision making.
Applicants should have a minimum of a lower second class (2:2) honours degree and three years' minimum work experience in a supervisory role or above.
Applications will be considered on an individual basis where there is evidence of experience outwith this.
The Master’s will be taught using blended learning. You will attend on-campus, face-to-face lectures and tutorials, alongside online sessions.
Topical, international case-based and research material will be used to encourage learner autonomy, empowerment, the development of higher order thinking skills and cooperative group activities, such as team presentations. At the start of modules, you’ll be given more directed tutor support and will be encouraged to provide peer support and constructive feedback.
Please note: The information displayed on this page shows the Global MBA as it is delivered on-campus at Abertay University.
The programme also runs with our international partners Westford University College and Castelldefels School of Social Sciences (C3S), and also fully online with Abertay Online. The modules run through these different routes may vary from those listed on this page.
One of the key benefits of undertaking an MBA is the networking opportunities it provides and the ability to learn from other managers. Therefore active discussion forms a significant part of the learning strategy. This is backed up with tutorial exercises, lectures (recorded or live) and resources placed on our virtual learning environment.
Although theory forms the bedrock of the modules, this is delivered and discussed in a very applied manner through the use of personal experiences, case-studies and simulations. As a Master’s level course there is also an expectation of personal reflection, research and investigation.
Assessment is varied across the modules but designed to provide an opportunity for greater learning. In this way we adopt the best practice approach of assessment ‘for’ learning rather than simply ‘of’ learning.
The diversity of assessment includes, personal reflections on experience, application of knowledge to given scenarios and exploration of theoretical concepts. This leads to presentation of work in oral, visual or written forms.
