How does it feel to be graduating?
It is incredibly exciting to be graduating! I cannot believe that I am going to be leaving Abertay but I am really looking forward to celebrating my time at university with my friends and family.

What made you decide to study at Abertay?
I was a fifth-year school leaver and I wanted to spend my time more productively than at school so decided I wanted to go straight to university. I loved both sport and science so Sport and Exercise Science seemed like the obvious choice. At the time I wasn’t sure what career path I wanted to do down so I wanted to go to a university which had a range of career options once students graduated and that brought me to Abertay. As the course at Abertay starts off very diverse covering a range of sport related areas I knew going to Abertay I would be able to find out what I liked and didn’t like so much in the goal of finding my future career path, which is exactly what happened.
What have the highlights been of your time at Abertay?
The numbers of opportunities has definitely been a highlight. I don’t think I if I went to any other university I would have had the opportunity to take part in such a diverse range of work placements. From sport scientist with the local football teams, to working alongside a physiotherapist and getting involved with community stroke rehabilitation. Not only have these work experiences been unbelievably enjoyable and put life practices to the theory, but they have also directed my career ambitions.
What’s next for you?
I have decided I want to become an Occupational Therapist and I have a conditional offer from Glasgow Caledonian University to study MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-Registration) which is a two-year Masters programme. The course doesn’t start until January 2020 so until then I plan to continue working in my current role as a Support Worker at Gowrie Care to save up some money for going back to university. I am also going to continue working with Dundee Stroke Exercise Group which I got involved with through Abertay and I will be officiating a couple of international hockey tournaments throughout the summer so that will keep me busy until the start of my new course.
