As a result of the latest government advice on Coronavirus (Covid-19), which asks people to come to work only when necessary and encourages social distancing, we will be reducing the number of staff on campus as far as we possibly can, and as quickly as we can. 16/03/2020 - CORONAVIRUS UPDATE FOR ABERTAY STUDENTS
All face-to-face teaching will be suspended from the end of Monday 16 March until further notice due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. We will deliver teaching and assessments remotely and academic staff will be in touch with students to explain how this will take place.

We have no plans to cancel any classes outright.
However, as of Tuesday 17 March, the majority of teaching and learning will be online. Programme tutors will contact you directly with further information.
If you are a final year or research student and need to come to the campus to use specialist equipment or access other facilities, you will be contacted separately.

There is a sign in/out system for staff who continue to come into work, or who need to visit the campus.
In accordance with NHS Inform and University guidance, the campus is now shut to the majority of staff and students. Please check the intranet for full details.
The University now using remote teaching and assessment. We will ensure students are be able to study, complete their degrees and graduate.
We are in a period of transition as we migrate to online delivery. Modelling is being carried out to gauge the impact on assessment and what this will look like for individual programmes. The University must ensure that all learning outcomes and professional body requirements are met.

The University is preparing for alternatives to physical exams.
It may be that students can sit exams offsite using online invigilation services to be accessed on their personal devices.
To help us gauge the feasibility of providing exams online, the University's Teaching Enhanced Learning Support teams would like all students with planned exams in Term 2 to complete a short survey, available on MyLearningSpace* HERE.
Students should login to MyLearningSpace every day to ensure they don't miss any module or learning resources updates.
Because of the campus closure and the exceptional circumstances, you can apply for extensions of up to 10 working days, or ask to defer to the next assessment deadline, without providing supporting evidence in this instance.

All Student Services such as the Advisory Service, the Counselling & Mental Health Service and the Careers Service are still available to students. However, we are adjusting how we deliver advice and guidance.

The University has stopped taking external event bookings and all events on campus will stop from 23rd March. The Abertay Digital Graduate Show is moving to a digital format and students will be contacted separately.
Arrangements for the summer Graduation ceremonies are being kept under review at this stage.
Please be assured that we are closely monitoring the situation as it evolves, and have an active team ready to manage any issues that arise in our University community. We are also in contact with NHS health protection teams and regional Emergency service providers.

Our Halls of Residence will remain open, but students are advised to travel home if they are able to do so safely. We will continue to support students who have to stay in residences.
We appreciate that this is a concerning time for everyone and that periods of self-isolation or anxiety can have a detrimental effect on people’s mental health. The Abertay Counselling and Mental Health Service is still available for students while the campus is closed.

This is your decision. You should check your home country's travel guidance, and if you do travel and choose to stay at home, please follow your home country's Coronavirus guidance.
The University has made a decision to cease all international travel for staff and students for the foreseeable future.
This is not inclusive of personal trips. We advise that if you are planning to travel home or take a trip overseas, you should follow the information provided on the FCO website for your destination country. This will also be the same for your return travel to the UK should that be required.

The current regulations state that students can take an interruption, with no impact on their visa as long as they meet the following criteria:
If, however, the interruption is in excess of 60 days, this will have an impact on your Tier 4 visa and you will be required to make a further visa application to continue your studies in the future.
Owing to the continued spread of the Coronavirus, the University has taken the decision to stop all work or study-related international travel bookings for staff and students until further notice.
This is an evolving situation and this advice is likely to change. Please keep up-to-date with any changes that may affect your ability to travel to and return from your destination.
