Mental Health and Wellbeing Support for Student Carers

Counselling & Mental Health Support for Student Carers

We know that it's essential for student carers to get the right kind of mental health support. Find out about the resources we can provide during your studies here at Abertay, so you can thrive.

Counselling and Mental Health Service

We all need help sometimes. Counselling helps you explore your issues without judgement. There is a free counselling service for any Abertay student who may need it.

You can book an appointment by emailing counselling@abertay.ac.uk. Or speak to the Support Enquiry Zone (SEZ) on level 1 of the Library.

Visit the counselling and mental health section to find out more.

There is also a Mental Health Nurse Advisor who provides confidential advice and support for students who have a diagnosis or enduring mental health condition.

Abertay Wellbeing App

Other student carers benefit from the the Abertay Wellbeing App.

This is an interactive app that helps you manage and monitor your own wellbeing. Over 900 students have benefited from it so far - why not give it a try?

The Chatty Cafe

This is a meeting especially for student carers, giving you the chance to chat, share and support each other.

The Cafe runs every week for 1.5 hours. It's a great way to meet other carers, and you can just show up. It's at The Junction on level 4 in the Kydd Building.

You can attend in person or online via the Microsoft Teams group for student carers. To find out more, please email Nicola Heath.

Free gym membership

We all know that being physically fit is a good way to help you stay mentally healthy. To help with this, we offer any student carer free membership of the university gym.

To find out more, please contact the Advisory team by emailing advisory@abertay.ac.uk.
