The University recorded improvements across six of the seven key themes in the annual rankings

Abertay University has recorded another strong performance in the National Student Survey, with overall student satisfaction rising to 84.1% in the 2026 results.

The annual survey, which gathers the views of final-year undergraduate students across the UK, showed improvement across six of the seven key satisfaction themes at Abertay.

The University’s overall satisfaction score for 2026 rose by 1.5 percentage points, placing Abertay second among Scottish modern universities and sixth among all universities in Scotland for overall satisfaction.

Abertay also placed in the top five in Scotland in six of the seven key satisfaction themes, including teaching, academic support, assessment and feedback, learning resources, organisation and management, and student voice.

The results also reflect the strong contribution of Abertay Students’ Association, which placed top among Scottish modern universities for student satisfaction with student unions.

Professor Liz Bacon, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Abertay University, said:

These results are a wonderful endorsement of the care, commitment and professionalism shown by colleagues across Abertay every day. The National Student Survey is one of the most important ways that students share their views on their university experience, so it is extremely encouraging to see such positive feedback across so many areas. We are especially pleased to see improvements across six of the seven key satisfaction themes and strong rankings in Scotland for areas including teaching, academic support, assessment and feedback, and learning resources. This achievement belongs to our whole University community, including our colleagues at Abertay Students’ Association, and underlines the strength of the student experience we continue to provide.

At subject level, Abertay also performed strongly, with Food Science, Mental Health Nursing, Law and Sociology each ranked first in Scotland for overall satisfaction.

On the teaching measure, Mental Health Nursing, Food Science, Sociology, Law, Biomedical Sciences and Forensic Science all ranked top in Scotland.

Across the UK, Food Science, Mental Health Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Computing, Forensic Sciences, Computer Games, Law, Business, Sociology and Civil Engineering all ranked among the top five subjects for overall positivity.

The National Student Survey is managed by the Office for Students on behalf of the UK funding and regulatory bodies, and is completed by final-year undergraduate students across the country.
