Biography

I am lecturer in Applied Mathematics within the Department of Games Technology and Maths in the Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business.

Teaching

I am the module leader for the following modules:

MAT101 - Applied Mathematics 1
MAT102 - Mathematics for Application Development 1
MAT401 - Advanced Applied Mathematics

I also teach on the module MAT311 - Mathematics for Cybersecurity

Research interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of computational astrophysics and applied mathematics. I perform large-scale numerical simulations of the Sun's atmosphere and investigate physical processes including Magnetohydrodynamic waves, magnetic reconnection and plasma heating in the Sun's atmosphere.

I am also interested in the Mathematics of real-time skill assessment in Games and how this can be used to build effective balancing mechanisms for mismatched players.
