Thorntons Law Scholarship

Overview

A £1,400 one-year scholarship open to Year 3 and Year 4 students studying our LLB (Hons) Law degree.

Students who have overcome challenging circumstances to attend university, are from a low-income background, and/or have caring responsibilities, will benefit from the scholarship. However, the student who demonstrates how the scholarship will benefit them specifically, and shows their ambition to work in Law after graduation, will receive the scholarship.

The award is £1,400 and includes careers advice from Thorntons.

Eligibility

All Year 3 or Year 4 LLB (Hons) students are eligible for this scholarship.

Award conditions

Successful applicants are expected to meet all of the following conditions if they accept the award:

To write a letter of thanks.
Give permission for parts of the letter of thanks to be quoted in promotional materials.
To be willing to meet with representatives of the scholarship if required.
To take part in promotional activity relating to the award.
To write an end-of-year update on your progress at Abertay University.

Feedback on the first draft of your personal statement by email or at a Drop-In appointment.

Eligibility queries for awards that we administer.
Evidence queries.

Please contact Advisory at least 4 weeks before the application deadline. This is to ensure that there is adequate time for staff to review your email, and for you to make alterations based on any feedback provided.

Advisory Service run Drop-In sessions on a first-come first-serve basis, during term time usually between 1pm and 4pm Monday to Thursday on the ground floor of the library.
