Join us for a talk by Gabrielle de la Puente and Zarina Muhammad, aka The White Pube, the bold new voices shaking up art and video games criticism.
Created to subvert the business of art reviews – especially boring art reviews – The White Pube are shifting the power balance away from the ‘old white men with posh accents’ and empowering fresh perspectives via their reviews and their website residencies.
Since its launch in October 2015, The White Pube have gained an international readership and an involved social media following due to their success in diversifying the identity of the critic and empowering two writers as working class and a woman of colour. Covering subjects across visual arts, games, and institutional critique, TWP write to demand quality from practitioners and institutions, decolonise and democratise audiences, and encourage embodied criticism as an accessible and more relevant form of writing.
