Through my show I enjoy celebrating Dundee’s local and global connections, sharing interesting conversations and highlighting some of the people and stories that make our city uniqueFahd Asif | Abertay University | International Operations Manager
Fahd volunteers as a presenter with Bridge FM Hospital Radio at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, using music, storytelling and conversation to support patient wellbeing and strengthen connections with the wider community.
Through regular broadcasts, he helps provide companionship and a sense of connection for patients during their time in hospital. For those spending extended periods on a ward, familiar voices, music and local stories can offer reassurance, lift spirits and provide a welcome distraction from treatment. The programme also helps listeners stay engaged with life beyond the hospital, reducing feelings of isolation and maintaining links with their local community.
A lifelong passion for storytelling, broadcasting and bringing people together through conversation inspired Fahd to become involved with Bridge FM. Drawing on skills developed through his professional role building international education partnerships around the world, he enjoys creating engaging discussions that bring together a wide range of voices and perspectives.

His programme, Beyond the Bridge, celebrates Dundee's local and global connections, exploring the people, places and stories that link the city to the wider world. Through interviews and community conversations, the show highlights the diversity, creativity and international outlook that make Dundee unique.
Looking ahead, Fahd hopes to involve more Abertay colleagues, academics and guest speakers in future programmes, creating opportunities to share research, expertise and local stories with a wider audience.

Outside of work, I think it's important that we make time for the things that inspire us and keep us connected to our communities. Storytelling and radio have been lifelong passions of mine, and volunteering with Bridge FM gives me an opportunity to bring those interests together in a way that hopefully makes a positive difference to others.
